Inexpensive art for kids rooms

So I have been searching for some art work to go into the kids rooms, but i have been unable to find any. So I decided that I needed to find an easy and inexpensive way to create some. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and also didn't want it to be permanent.

While walking around the Dollar store one day, I wondered if my idea would work. Take those vinyl decals that you can put on your walls and peel off, but position them on canvas instead.

IT WORKS!!!!!!

So this here is an example of those vinyl decals that you can get at the Dollar store.  This one I was not able to use, as the tail of the Peacock was too long for the canvas that I had.

All you need to do is peel those stickers off and place them on the canvas. THAT'S IT.

NOTE: my son does find that the ones on his wall, which where purchased at Home Depot (more expensive) seam to peel off on some of the edges a bit.  I just push them back and they are fine for a while.

Here are the ones that I made for my kids rooms.

This is in my daughters room.

These are the ones in my son's room.

What we also opted to do in his room, as his wall is fairly big, was that we displayed his first snowboard (100cm - almost looks like a big skateboard) on the wall by using a shelf.  His room is painted lime green and orange, so the colour goes great.

How about displaying skis. Or a pair of skates.  Anything that your kids are into, as they will also like the decoration.  This way my sons gets to keep his first snowboard.  Who knows, one day he may pass it down.
